2024 Adventure Photos

Carson Gigstad from Savage, MN underwent a heart transplant in 2017 and will likely require another heart transplant in the next 5-10 years. Carson and his family recently returned from a houseboat adventure with Lake Vermilion Houseboats.

They had 2 days of guided fishing with Dave Schueck and Cliff Wagenbach. They had an awesome adventure and Carson caught eater walleyes and personal best perch and crappie.

This summer, we had a great Minnesota Twins baseball weekend for many Outdoor Adventure Foundation recipients and their families. What an awesome night for baseball Friday night with a walk-off win! Recipients hauled in three balls on the right field home run porch and another autographed ball on the field. We even made the big screen!

Cancer survivor Ezra Vangness from Dodge Center, MN just returned from his Brainerd Lakes adventure. Ezra and family stayed at the Lodge at Brainerd Lakes with unlimited passes to their indoor waterpark.

 

They also had 2 trips of guided fishing for panfish with guide Nate Berg. Ezra had a great time!

Cullen Cisneros lives in Shoreview, MN and was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in 2020. He has had radiation at treatment at the Mayo and chemo at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. He had surgery again on his leg in April 2024. Cullen just returned from an awesome adventure to beautiful Lake Vermilion where he stayed at White Eagle Resort. He had 3 days of guided fishing with an all-star line up of guides, Former world champion tournament muskie fisherman Josh Borovsky, AJ Wiesner of Living Legends Guide Service, Dave Schueck of Sunset Glow Guide Service.

 

Cullen wanted to catch a muskie and WOW... did he ever! He caught a 50.5 inch trophy! Congrats Cullen!

 

We can't wait to see this fish at our fundraising dinner banquet March 1st!

Mid-July was our annual group charter fishing trip on Lake of the Woods. We took several past recipients of the foundation and their guests on a weekend of fun and fishing. A great time was had by all, with memories that will last forever.

Anton Carlson of Culver, MN had adult acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and underwent a bone marrow transplant. We are happy to say that Anton just returned home from a Devil's Lake fishing adventure where he fished with Big John's Guide Service and stayed at Lakeview Lodge.

Konner Repp from Blaine, MN just returned from his fishing adventure to Rainy Lake at Thunderbird Lodge. Konner was guided by the legendary guide Mike Williams. Konner will be needing a heart transplant in the near future, but for now he and his mom Jennifer had a great fishing adventure.

8 year old Celee Oseguera and her family recently returned from 1 week at the Give Kids the World village at Disney World. Celee is recovering from leukemia and really needed an amazing get-away. She and her entire family had an awesome time.

6 year old Bianca Gozola is from Savage, MN and had a heart transplant in September 2022. Bianca and her family recently returned from 1 week at the magical Give Kids the World Village at Disney World! They had an amazing trip.

18 year old Josh Hansen from Rochester just got back from his adventure to the Rainy River with guide Trent Eineichner. Josh wanted to catch a sturgeon, and wow did he ever!

 

What a great adventure for this young man just recovering from leukemia. Just look at that smile!

Maisy Martindale

16 year old Maisy Martindale just got her black bear while hunting with DOA Outfitters in Manitoba! Maisy was born with congenital heart defects and has had over 30 surgeries so far.

 

What a great adventure for Maisy!! 

21 year old Connor Johnson from Rochester bagged his black bear at DOA Outfitters in Manitoba. Connor was diagnosed with stage 4 medulloblastoma brain cancer. After 6 weeks of beam radiation, 48 weeks of Chemo, and brain surgery, Connor is now in remission and was able to go on this awesome adventure.

MJ Arns was recently diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma that spread to lungs. He has had chemo, radiation, a bone replaced with a cadaver bone, and will soon have another surgery. We are happy to report that MJ and his dad recently returned from a peacock bass fishing adventure in the Florida everglades with guide Dave Schueck of Sunset Glow Guide Service.

 

In 3 days of fishing they caught 150-200 peacock bass plus other species of fish too. Congrats MJ!! We hope you loved your adventure!
